While COVID-19 has impacted the economy in countless ways, the nationwide shutdown has been especially devastating to the restaurant industry. To help address the crisis, Tock, an established online table-reservation platform, pivoted overnight to offering Tock To Go. Within days of shelter-in-place orders being implemented, Tock To Go offered a solution for restaurants to sell prepaid meals to go on a time-slotted basis – giving its clients a lifeline to keep revenue coming in, keep staff employed and keep kitchens from being overloaded (unlike with delivery-service apps).
Tock was able to act so rapidly thanks to the solid technological underpinnings of their application. Building their app on top of MariaDB allowed the Tock team to support their business and technical requirements – both then and now.
Watch this webcast with Robin Anil, director of engineering at Tock, to learn what happened behind the scenes and where Tock goes from here. He will share how the entire Tock team pitched in, and shifted to an accelerated software development and deployment process to drive results within hours to meet the crisis head-on.
