MariaDB appears for the first time in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Data Management Systems
MariaDB’s cloud database, SkySQL, earned Gartner’s recognition for:
- One database service for any workload — With row-based, column-based, and distributed SQL storage engines, MariaDB SkySQL can support various workload types: transactional, analytical, and highly scalable.
- Multi-cloud deployment — SkySQL is currently available on AWS and GCP, and Azure availability is imminent, simplifying multi- and hybrid-cloud strategies. It’s also easy to migrate from Oracle to MariaDB with SkySQL’s support for Oracle stored procedures (PL/SQL).
- Capacity planning & troubleshooting — MariaDB’s Workload Analysis uses machine learning to predict workload usage across SkySQL clusters to help customers plan, prepare and optimize.
According to Gartner, “Database management systems continue their move to the cloud — a move that is producing an increasingly complex landscape of vendors and offerings. This Magic Quadrant will help data and analytics leaders make the right choices in a complex and fast-evolving market.”
