The default storage engine in MariaDB (InnoDB), like in most relational databases, uses row storage optimized for transaction processing. But increasingly, there is a need for collocated real-time analytics, visualization and reporting – needs better met by a columnar storage engine.
To support real-time analytics on billions of rows and terabytes of data, MariaDB databases include MariaDB ColumnStore, a columnar storage engine that uses distributed data and massively parallel processing to scale out analytical workloads. Further, MariaDB Enterprise Server can support partitioning and joining data across InnoDB and ColumnStore, reducing complexity and accelerating query performance.
In this webinar, we'll explain how you can use MariaDB as a distributed, columnar database, and look at the architecture. In addition, we'll discuss practical use cases and real-world success stories – and give a live demo using a sample application.
Watch this webinar to:
• Get an introduction to columnar storage in MariaDB
• Learn how MariaDB customers are using columnar storage in the real world for modern analytics
• See a demo where we do ad hoc queries on a large data sets using ColumnStore and visualize the data using Power BI (interactive data visualization software)
