One database. Multiple storage engines. Every workload.

A general-purpose database with a single storage architecture can support different workloads, but it can’t support any of them very well. There are trade-offs because the data structure optimizes reads at the cost of writes, and transactions at the cost of analytics.

MariaDB Platform solves this problem with pluggable storage and a variety of storage engines – each one optimized for a different workload or query type. By using multiple storage engines, it supports different workloads equally as well – and at the same time.

In this webinar recording, we provide an in-depth overview of the available storage engines in MariaDB Platform and explain how to choose the right one, or a combination, to optimize performance and scalability based on both simple and complex workload characteristics.

You'll learn:

  • Why different workloads require different data structures
  • Which workloads are supported by which storage engines
  • How to use multiple storage engines at the same time
